Sibling Love | Belmont & Cambridge Newborn Photographer

The cool thing about doing in-home sessions in the Boston area is that everyone’s home is sooo completely different. When I’m shooting in downtown Boston, Charlestown or Cambridge, I often find myself in tiny (but very cool!) apartments, and when I’m in the ‘burbs of Belmont, Watertown, Metrowest and beyond, people tend to live in single-family homes that are older and full of character. I love the variety. It keeps things exciting and fresh. Sometimes parents worry that their home isn’t large enough or well-lit enough or decorated awesomely enough for in-home photos, but I pinky promise you, your home is just perfect. While good natural light *does* make my job easier, I have found that houses with less light often result in some of my favorite photos. They end up looking a little moodier and more emotive, and these sessions force me to get creative.

This perfectly adorable newborn session was one such session. I didn’t have endless amounts of natural light pouring in (especially because it was a cloudy day!), but it really challenged me in a GOOD way. We used the adorable swing on their porch, we took photos outside on the front stoop (which was super cute!), and I utilized the tiniest little window seat in the master bedroom. As you can probably see, it all worked out justttt fine. This family’s love and adoration for their newest little babe just shined through in everyyyy single part of our session. Their connection was palpable, and I’m convinced that we could have taken beautiful photos just about anywhere (especially with big brother being as sweet as he was!). <3

WELCOME

Oh hey! I’m Melissa, a Boston family & newborn photographer, but I like to refer to myself as a toddler-whispering, child-taming, photographic ninja.
