Massachusetts Family Photographer | My 2021 Plan

Can you believe we made it?! We survived 2020 (just barely!). What.a.year. Soon, I will be returning to my day job (I’m a Reading Specialist in the Watertown Public Schools), and several returning clients have already reached out about 2021 availability. SO, after much waffling, here’s the plan.

January

January is my last month of leave, and I’d love to book a couple more sessions. BUT, I am only comfortable booking outdoor sessions as Covid numbers continue to rise here in Massachusetts. Outdoor winter sessions are a good option for maternity clients, or adventurous families whose children do well in colder temperatures. My schedule is lighter and I’m usually able to play a date by ear so we can find a day that’s not absolutely freezing.

February and March

February is my last month on leave and as of now, I still have room for two more sessions. If you’re interested in a cozy winter session or a magical snowy session, please reach out ASAP! In March I have two sessions booked for the end of the month, but otherwise booking is closed since I will be returning to teaching on the 1st and I want to take things easy as I transition back.

April

Spring will be in sight and I’m already dreaming of warmer days! April weekends are now closed for booking but I may open up one weekday evening session during my April vacation, depending on how things feel in March. I’ll make an announcement on Instagram and Facebook if I decide to do this!

May/June and September-December

SO, this fall I tested out something new. I booked two families back-to-back every Saturday for 45-minute sessions. By shortening my session length slightly, I was able to see twice as many families and still provide large galleries without leaving my house twice as much. It worked out beautifully and I’m going to re-instate this model in May. This is good news as it means that even though I will only book three Saturdays each month, it doesn’t necessarily mean I will only see three families. However, if a newborn session is booked for a particular Saturday, then I will not book any families that evening. If you are interested in both 45-minute slots, you’ll have the option to book a Premium Session. This type of session will give us the time and flexibility to explore and include a greater variety of backdrops. Grandparents are also welcome to join! September through December will look like May and June. In May, I currently have the 8th and the 22nd available. In June, I have two remaining Saturdays (your choice of the 5th, the 19th, or the 26th).

July and August

While not always a favorite due to the heat, this is when I’m going to have the most availability each year. Our family will be up on Lake Winni from July 10th-13th, but I am otherwise available and open for booking! I plan on booking each Saturday and one weekday session all summer. I’d also love to book a couple of fresh 48 sessions if Covid is more under control by then, too! Lastly, I plan to reserve two nights in August for back-to-back 30-minute sessions.

If you’re interested in a 2021 session, I encourage you to check out my packages/pricing page and my FAQ page. Returning clients will be extended a $50 discount and payment plans are available for both new and existing customers.

I hope to see many familiar faces and meet some new ones, too! <3

WELCOME

Oh hey! I’m Melissa, a Boston family & newborn photographer, but I like to refer to myself as a toddler-whispering, child-taming, photographic ninja.
