Belmont, MA First Birthday Session | Boston Children’s Photographer

April can be totally hit or miss for outdoor sessions here in Massachusetts, but I guess that’s true of every month. We had 70 degree days this past February, followed by a brutally cold March, and now we’re in the midst of a heat wave in mid-May (which, btwwwww, is not going over well with me and my 39+ week pregnant self). What I love about April though is that it’s one of the more colorful, bloom-filled months. By the middle of the month, you can usually find plenty of daffodils, and by late month, tulips and cherry trees are starting to blossom. By mid-May these are often gone, so I say if you’re willing to risk a chilly or drizzly day, it’s totally worth booking an April session.

The night of this particular shoot was absolutely perfect though. It was probably 65 degrees and the light was that soft, golden light that all of us photographers drool over (and why we alwayssss tell our clients it’s best to shoot about an hour or so before sunset!). Throw in a perfectly well-behaved and adorable (almost) one-year old, and we had all the necessary ingredients for an A+ first birthday session!

WELCOME

Oh hey! I’m Melissa, a Boston family & newborn photographer, but I like to refer to myself as a toddler-whispering, child-taming, photographic ninja.
