Baby Marcella’s In-Home Newborn Session | Boston Newborn Photographer

2017 seems to be the year of newborns for my business, and I suppose they’re coming at a good time since my own will be here in 7ish weeks or so (Whaaaa?!? How come no one told me pregnancy FLIES by?!). Baby Marcella was one of THREE winter babies on my calendar who came quite a few weeks early. It’s crazy to think that she came at 34 weeks because I’m only about a week away from that point! Ahhh. Despite her early arrival, she didn’t have to spend much time in the NICU and was home in no time. You go, girl!

On the day of little Marcella’s session, her house was still in the midst of renovations and her family wasn’t even living in it yet. Thankfully, she was a superrrr laid back baby and her nursery (the only finished room in the house) was unbelievably adorable, so our session was a success despite the circumstances! We shot most of it in the nursery and later went downstairs for family photos, using a bare wall in the living room as our backdrop. I may have had to straddle a few cans of paint to get the shots I wanted, but I actually really liked shooting in an empty room. It kept the focus on the family and baby, AND I now have proof for prospective clients that you DON’T need to live in a Pinterest perfect house to have a successful in-home session! The house you have is the best house for your pictures, and as long as there’s at least one window allowing good natural light inside, we’re all set ;).

Enjoy!

WELCOME

Oh hey! I’m Melissa, a Boston family & newborn photographer, but I like to refer to myself as a toddler-whispering, child-taming, photographic ninja.
