As a Boston family & maternity photographer, I’ve had a lot more maternity sessions over the last year or two than in previous years. Part of me thinks the rise in interest came after this session (isn’t she stunning?!), but who really knows! Whatever the cause, I’m not complaining, and here’s why you might want to think about turning your maternity session into a combo maternity/family session!
It’s Less Awkward
Have you ever had engagement photos or maternity photos taken of just you and your significant other? Chances are, you felt a smidge (or a lot!) awkward. And I’m not going to lie, as a photographer, I feel a little less at ease posing two adults than I do a family with children. One would *think* it would be easier, but the reality is, children loosen people up!
It’s a Two-for-One Deal
When you book a family/maternity session, you get a lot for your money! We’ll not only document your adorable bump, but you’ll get updated family photos. The final gallery will have a ton of variety. You’ll get pictures of the whole fam, pictures of just mom and bump, and pictures of mom, the soon-to-be big sibling, and bump together. We can also take some of just you and your S.O., and then take some updated solo portraits of your older kiddo. My maternity/family galleries tend to be HUGE, so it really is a great time in your life to book a session.
The Years are Short
As the saying goes, the days are long and the years are short. This goes for childhood and for pregnancy. Though your pregnancy may feel like it’s dragging on forever, the reality is, you won’t be a family of three (or 4, or however big your crew is now) for much longer! You may want to capture that time together before the next little one arrives.
