2020 Going Forward | Boston Family & Newborn Photographer

It’s mid-June and I’m about a month out from my due date. Ahhhh. How are we here already?! But also, how will I make it another month?! These are the questions that every pregnant woman has undoubtedly asked hundreds of times before. While I’m contemplating that, you might be wondering what the rest of the year looks like for Melissa Rabbitt Photography, so I thought I’d spell it out in a quick blog post.

The Timeline

My plan is to give myself about 5ish weeks off and then very slowly return to sessions starting in late August. I have two existing clients on the calendar for one-year sessions, and I’ll also be photographing my photog friend who is doing our newborn photos earlier in the month. Other than that, I won’t be booking any August sessions because I want to ease back into it slowly. This is around the same timeline I followed after Greyson was born and it felt manageable.

Things will start to pick up in the fall, and by mid-September I plan to be going full steam ahead until some time in November. I will be taking the entire fall off from teaching, so that’s good news for anyone who hasn’t been able to get on the calendar in previous years because now I can manage more photo sessions! Of course, I completely recognize that life with two kids is going to feel a lot different than life with one, and I’ll still limit myself to a reasonable number of sessions.

Types of Sessions

So what types of sessions will I be doing? I’ll of course be continuing with outdoor family sessions, and as of now plan to photograph newborns as well *assuming we are in phase 3 or “the new normal” and we stay there*. Should we end up back in phase 1, I’ll be offering outdoor newborn sessions as an alternative to in-home. Once winter comes, that unfortunately won’t be an option, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it!

When to Book

If you’re wondering when to book, the answer is now! 😉 I opened booking for outdoor family sessions to existing clients last week, and now it’s open to new clients as well. Even though I’ll be increasing my volume of sessions, I still plan to cap it at 10-12 per month, and I’m already about 1/3 of the way there for September and October, so definitely reach out ASAP!

Oh hey! I’m Melissa, a Boston family & newborn photographer, but I like to refer to myself as a toddler-whispering, child-taming, photographic ninja.
